I'm not always sure that computers actually makes our life better.  Ok, I am actually pretty convinced that it does, for the most part.  But sometimes they can just be maddening.  For instance, to attach an image to these blog posts I have to switch browsers.  I'll file a bug report, of course, but this is not the first time that my life has been made more complicated because I choose to use the "wrong" browser.  It's one of the mainstream browsers, nothing weird about it.... but it doesn't work with the particular software that powers this blog.  Or scripts this blog.  Or whatever. Oh well.  I've tried to stick to just one browser just to make my life simpler.  Apparently not in this case.  I've now managed to post the image that goes with the August 6 posting, and will be able to post new images as well into the future.

Earlier this year I was privileged to be able to participate for the 1st time as an artist in the 10th annual Easter Art Tour on Salt Spring. This weekend event is organized by the Salt Spring Arts Council (www.ssartscouncil.com) and has become a highly anticipated spring event. For the EAT this year another photographer (and a very gifted artist) Thea Chapman and I created a joint show called "Who Am I, & Why Am I doing here?" The image here is one of the photographs that I had used in the show. At it's simplest level it is a mosaic of me. The image in the top left is the earliest photo of me, of which I have strong memories. The image in the bottom right is a segment of the most recent self portrait I have of myself. The images that make up the mosaic tiles are are scans of every single Polaroid manipulation that I have every done, with the exception of the those that have been sold to collectors. There were 255 of them - so I added a Polaroid non-manipulation to bring the number up to nice round 256. The mosaic image can be considered the main theme for my portion of the the Easter Art Tour show, as the book and the prints that made up my work for the show were all based on, or used in, this mosaic.
